Diatom Research update

All ISDR 2011 members should now have received their printed copies of Volume 26 of Diatom Research (Issues 1-2). The second part (Issues 3-4) was sent out to members in December and many of you will also have received this.

Members of the society also receive online access to the Diatom Research and members should have received email instructions direct from Taylor and Francis about how to set this up. Unfortunately, these emails can be caught in spam filters. To avoid this, add ‘@tandfonline.com’ to your safe senders list. In order to set up the online access, the Society requires an up to date email address and so if you are having difficulty in registering, it might be because you have not provided us with your most recent email address. If you think this may be the case, please email Suzanne Mcgowan (suzanne.mcgowan@nottingham.ac.uk) with your new contact details so that our data base can be updated. Online access for 2011 members has been extended to March 31st in acknowledgement of the delays in providing this service. Members who renew their subscription for 2012 will have online access extended for the whole year.

Thank you again for your patience whilst we have made the transition to our new publishers, Taylor and Francis. We hope that you are pleased with the new look journal.

Meeting arranged at the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland

(GEUS) in Copenhagen, Denmark on the 23rd-25th of May, 2012. The meeting will be arranged jointly by GEUS, Natural History Museum of Denmark, University of Copenhagen and the Environmental Change Research Unit (ECRU), University of Helsinki.

6th Central European Diatom Meeting, Innsbruck, 22-25th March 2012

We are pleased to announce that registration has opened for the 6th Central European Diatom Meeting to be held at the Institute of Botany, Innsbruck, 22-25th March 2012.

There will be a german speaking meeting in front of the 6th CE-Diatom with separate registration options (26th DDT from 22nd March 2012).

The website for the 22nd International Diatom Symposium to be held in Ghent (Belgium) from the 26-31st August 2012 is now available at http://www.vliz.be/events/ids2012. Note that registration will start on the 1st February 2012.

We are especially happy to announce the following confirmed invited speakers: Martyn Kelly (Bowburn Consultancy, UK), Peter Kroth (University of Konstanz, Germany), Isabelle Lavoie (INRS Eau Terre Environnement, Canada), Marina Montresor (Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn, Italy), Nicole Poulsen (Dresden University of Technology, Germany), Jeroen Raes (VUB/VIB, Belgium), Rosa Trobajo (IRTA, Spain), Graham Underwood (University of Essex, UK) and Elie Verleyen (Ghent University, Belgium).

Diatom Research - update

From 2011, Diatom Research is published by Taylor and Francis. The journal is published in 4 online issues each year, whilst paper publication will continue to be twice a year.

During this transitional year to our new publishers, the mail out of Diatom Research to members has been delayed. The two printed issues for 2011 will now be sent out together to members by the end of 2011. All future issues in 2012 should be at the usual time in May and November.

Currently, members who are affiliated to an institution which subscribes to Diatom Research will be able to view the journal online at http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/TDIA We are are working with Taylor and Francis to provide individual members with free online access to the the latest issues and full back catalogue.

22nd International Diatom Symposium

We are pleased to announce that the 22^nd International Diatom Symposium will take place from August 26^th to 31^st 2012 in Ghent, Belgium.
